Christopher Evans
Evans is the owner and artist of Good Trip Gallery.
“I chose to do the event because I want to be a part of something that is good for the growth of Raleigh.”
Carly Jaye Smith
Smith is a self-taught artist from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She most enjoys recycling industrial products like wood scraps into pieces of art that can inspire and touch the heart instead of going to waste. Her subjects vary from influential actors and athletes to music legends, landmark locations, as well as personal passions.
“I love to collaborate with the communities I live and work in. I saw this event as a way to give back to a great initiative, but to also connect with other local artists and art collectors.”
Taylor White
White is a painter and muralist whose work engages with the fundamental elements of being. Combining refined techniques of classical training with bright, unexpected color choices born from the residue of street art and pop culture, White’s work explores the way in which we experience the formless chaos of potential through being and how the order we inhabit can sometimes dissolve backwards into the incredible complexity from which it emerged.
“I chose to participate in the event because I think a skate park is an important asset for any community wanting to provide a positive outlet for youth and promote an active lifestyle, and I’m happy to see our community pulling together to make one happen for Raleigh. I’m happy to be able to contribute to the cause.”
Georgia Tardy
From a young age, Tardy knew she was an artist. With this sense of identity clearly established since childhood, she has dedicated herself to the development of her God-given gifts and calling, continually seeking to understand fully what it means to be an artist.
“I chose to participate in the Skate Raleigh event because Steve has been a supporter of The Artist Lounge Raleigh (my husband and I co-own), and I want to reciprocate that support. Also, as a fine artist who paints on wood surfaces, this was right up my alley! I support the creation of a skatepark in Raleigh to serve the needs of the skate community and create more outlets of expression.”
Skillet Gilmore
Skillet Gilmore is an artist, musician, former member of the Raleigh-based alternative country band Whiskeytown, and production design supervisor at INDY Week. He began creating posters and other merchandise for his band, which is how he discovered his knack for design. His posters aimed to catch the reader’s attention with graphics, text, and hand-crafted artistry that showed off the nature of his music.
“Skating, and the culture surrounding it, from music to art, were very formative for me as a kid growing up in South Carolina in the 80s. I didn't fit in very well amongst the majority of my peers, and it really gave me a second home of sorts.”
