Why Skateparks?
Skateparks are communal spaces where all ages can gather, fostering social interactions and strengthening community.
They attract both local and visiting skateboarders, leading to increased patronage of nearby businesses stimulating the local economy.
Skateparks reduce damage to private property, decrease illicit behaviors in youth , and save lives by providing safe places in public to skate.

Support for Skate Raleigh
“Skateboarders have a hard time finding a place to do their sport, and so they tend to go places where they aren’t necessarily welcome. This (skatepark) provides that opportunity to give them a safe place to practice where they can feel at home with their buddies—and they and their parents know that they’re going to be OK, and they’re going to be safe.”
